All Seasons Welcome Hotel

My husband and I love travel.  The very first time we visited Melbourne was in year 2000.  We normally buy our own air tickets and book accommodation online everywhere we go.   I used to work more than 12 hours per day in my previous marketing job and my schedule was always packed.  So, I had to rely on my husband to do the online hotel checking and booking.  One day, I got back from work, he happily told me that tickets were ready and he got a hotel at a super fantastic location i.e. opposite of China Town (he loves to stay next to China Town or casino everywhere he goes :D) at a very good rate.  Great!! We can just pack and go :).

When we arrived at the hotel, I saw the signboard showing “All Seasons Welcome Hotel”.  “What a name?!” I told my hubby.  Hubby didn’t bother too much and was very happy with its location – city center and right opposite of China Town.  After checking in, only did we realize the bed was too small, the hotel was too old, it was not up to standard…. No wonder it was so cheap :D  Anyway, we were going to stay for 2 nights only.  It’s ok lah…. But I remember the hotel name for life.

Seven years later, we decided to revisit Melbourne.  I was still busy on my marketing job.  Again, hubby was assigned to do the hotel booking.  I specially told him, “Any reasonable hotel but please, no more All Seasons Welcome.”

One night, I got back and he happily told me that, “I booked a hotel at reasonable rate, near China Town too, but definitely not All Seasons Welcome :).  It’s called ‘Mercure’.”  “The name sounds cool.  Let’s pack and go then.”

When the taxi dropped us in front of Mercure Hotel, we looked at each other and said, “How come this hotel look so familiar one?”  Everything was the same as “All Seasons Welcome” except they changed the signboard to “Mercure”.  OMG…. We were back to the same hotel.  Hubby was laughing non-stop while I was giving him roll-eye. I guess it was fated.  However, they have upgraded the hotel.  We totally satisfied with the hotel stay during our second trip in Melbourne.
