Walked Like A Duck In Saigon

I used to invite my husband to every one of my ex-company’s trips without fail.  During a trip to Saigon in April 2009, as usual we packed everything nicely before the trip.  My husband has his feminine side – just like girls, he has many pairs of shoes.  The problem with that is some of the shoes might have been kept inside the cabinet collecting dust and you wouldn’t know the condition of the shoes when you stop wearing them for long period of time.

On that particular trip, he decided to wear his black Nike sport shoes which he only wore them once in a while, still looked perfectly okay.

As usual, we met our colleagues in KLIA…. Happily departed and reached Saigon on time.  Once we stepped out from airport while walking on the street, his black Nike gave way.  The front part of the right side shoe broke into 3 parts.  “Stupid shoe! Wore few times only and now it’s gone!!” Cursed and swore all the way but no choice, he had to walk carefully like a duck to prevent the whole shoe from falling apart.

:D
During the bus ride to lunch venue, he found a black rubber band from one of my female colleagues and tied it on his broken shoe.  He proudly showed it to everybody …. “Wah... good idea woh.” “You very smart lah.” My colleagues praised.

After lunch, all the smokers would gather at one corner to have smoking break.  My hubby was one of them.  He lighted up his cigarette, smoked and chatted with other smokers.  When his cigarette was about to finish, he instinctively threw his cigarette butt on the floor and extinguished it with his RIGHT foot.

“Oops….”

“What?”

“Rubber band broke.”

“HAHAHA!!!!”

We asked around to get a new rubber band but couldn’t get.  Hubby had to walk like a duck again.  Luckily there was a stop at a market place on that day’s agenda.  We had to search the whole market for black colour rubber band.  What a wonderful experience.

Lesson to learn – based on my own experience, no matter how expensive  your sport shoes or whatever famous brand, it’ll only last for 2 years.  It’s worse if you just keep it aside and don’t use it - the rubber will become hard and its life span  will be shorter.  So, the best is to maximize “kau kau” once invested on a pair of shoes :).

Party in Shadow :)
Peter was drunk and jumped like a monkey on the dance floor.  Must have banded his shoe with a lot of rubber bands  :D
“Chong, told you my rubber bands work :D”
Eating Pho @ road side after dancing.
Doing the “norm” during company trip bus ride.
“Peter Cheah, are you done with your photo taking? We are freaking hungry here!!”
We guys love balls… any ball :)
My ex-colleague, Kok Leong really really loves Vietnamese coffee.
Kok Leong “underestimated” his size, got stuck in a small hole at Cu Chi Tunnel.  He was in such a panic state after failing a few attempts to get out.  Although we got him out successfully, he was down with chicken pox the next day :D
